Choosing Your Marquee

Q: Why should I choose a Marquee for my event?

A: There are many reasons for choosing a Marquee, including:

  • Flexibility and control over how you use your location
  • Creating a unique and personal touch for your special event

Q: How do I know what size of Marquee I will need?

A: The size of Marquee you will need will depend on:

  • The type of function you are planning
  • The layout of the function
  • The size of the Site available
  • The number of guests in attendance

We are happy to advise on the size / type of Marquee you will need.

Q: When would I choose a lined Marquee

A: Lined Marquees are more suitable for a traditional wedding, as they surround your guests with a sense of formality and luxury.

Q: When would I choose an unlined Marquee?

A: Unlined Marquees are more suitable for functional and casual events, as the walls and structure are fully visible.

Q: How long does it take to erect and take down my Marquee?

A: The time needed to install your Marquee will vary depending on size, location, complexity and the internal finish you require. Most events take on average between 1 and 2 days to erect and 1 day to dismantle.

Q: How long is the Hire Period for my Marquee?

A: The Hire Period for your Marquee starts with its installation on Site and ends when it is dismantled after your event has finished.

Q: Do you do Site visits and consultations?

A: Yes, we can offer you a free site visit to best assess your needs and requirements.

Set-up

Q: Does the Site need to be level for my Marquee?

A: No, the Site does not need to be level to erect your Marquee, although there can be extra work involved depending on the Site in question, and we will be able to make recommendations during the initial Site consultation.

Q. Does my Marquee need to be erected on Grass?

A: No, your Marquee can be erected on any flat surface, although grass is the easiest surface to work with. All other surfaces would require pin holes drilled in order to ensure the Marquee remains secure (which we will make good upon clearing the site).

Additional Equipment

Q: Do you supply just my Marquee?

A: No, we can also supply a wide range of accessories, including:

  • Furniture
  • Lighting
  • Flooring
  • Heating
  • Lighting
  • Generators

We also have contacts with many other companies, so we can easily arrange:

  • Catering equipment
  • Marquee decoration
  • Theme parties
  • Please ask us for what you need and we will be delighted to help you.

Q. What about flooring?

A. We supply either natural coir matting (a close weaved man made fibre) or carpet.

Q: Will I need a power supply?

A: Your Marquee does not need any extra power requirements unless you are providing catering or having a band, in which case we can either run a 15m cable to your nearest power supply, or provide you with a generator.

Q: Winter Heating

A: Marquees offer the perfect venue for events throughout the year, but we recommend hiring heaters to ensure your guests are kept warm during the Autumn and Winter months.

Finance

Q: Do you need a deposit?

A: Yes, you will need to pay a 25% deposit with your booking confirmation (see our Terms & Conditions for more details).

Q: Is there an additional Charge for Delivery, Erection, Dismantling and / or Collection?

A: Delivery costs will be included in your quotation.

Q: Insurance cover

A: A damage waiver of 5% is added to all marquee quotes, covering damage to persons or equipment caused through negligence.

Safety

Q: Does the marquee need to be anchored to the ground?

A: Yes. Your Marquee will need to be anchored securely to the ground:

  • On grass, tarmac, and gravel surfaces the Marquee will need to be anchored to the ground using steel rods.
  • On concrete, industrial grade anchor bolts are used to anchor the Marquee.

Q: Could my Marquee damage any cables or pipes running underneath the site?

A: Damage is possible if any cabling or pipe work is near the surface, so we will need you to advise us if there are water mains or electrical cabling running close to where you plan to erect your Marquee.

Q: Will my Marquee be safe?

A: Yes, your Marquee will be fully staked, weighted, fire resistant and weatherproof.

Weather

Q. How will my Marquee cope with strong weather conditions?

A: Whilst the Clearspan structure of your Marquee can cope with more harsh weather conditions than a more traditional marquee would, it is still a temporary structure and can become vulnerable in extreme wind conditions. Be aware that windy conditions and torrential rain can result in some noise within your Marquee, and excessive rain can cause the area surrounding your Marquee to become soft and muddy on a grassy site. We recommend that you have a hard floor to ensure a dry floor in wet conditions.

Q: Can my Marquee be opened up in warm weather?

A: Yes, all the sides of your Marquee can be taken off in good weather and easily put back on in the evening if you need.
